Mt. Baker Housing Resident Impact

Providing Services our Residents Need

Ramsy's Story

Ramsy and his family arrived in the U.S. as Cambodian refugees in 1982 searching for safety and belonging. When they moved into Mt. Baker Village, it became more than housing—it became home.

Over the years, Ramsy has built deep roots in the community—tending the pea patch garden, celebrating cultural traditions, and finding support during moments of both joy and grief. When his mother passed away in 2024, neighbors and staff came together to honor her life with a traditional Cambodian ceremony.

Today, with help from MBH’s Resident Services team, Ramsy is beginning a culinary training program to build new skills and opportunities for his family.

Mt. Baker Village has been a haven for Ramsy’s family—a
place of security, community, and hope across generations.

Where Housing Stability Meets Community Building

We know that accessing affordable housing is only one step toward overall stability. Many residents also face barriers such as limited English proficiency, lack of access to culturally responsive healthcare, food insecurity, and difficulty addressing other basic needs.

Three Pillars of Resident Services

Our Resident Services program is built on three core pillars: resident assistance, community events, and resident-led initiatives.

Resident Assistance

Personalized support and resource referrals through office hours and on-on-one appointments with our Resident Services coordinators.

Ongoing Programming

On-site programming that supports residents in skills development, health & well-being, and community building.

Community Events

Community-wide events that foster connection, build community, and link residents to essential resources.

At its heart, our program is about more than services. It is about stability, empowerment, and connection. By meeting residents where they are, we help them not only maintain their housing, but also plan for their future, and build a sense of belonging within their community.

Partnerships at Our Core

Lasting change requires collective effort. Partnerships are central to how we operate and amplify our impact. By cultivating strong relationships with mission-aligned organizations, local businesses, community advocates, and public agencies, we create a network of support that extends well beyond housing.
